Stunning translation from a real poet!
Tao Te Ching is an incredible source of enduring wisdom and meditative insights. There's lots of translations out there, but so many of them lose something along the way by fixating on academic questions and arcane details of translation.
This new version is fresh, immediate, playful, and brimming with life! JJ Bitters is a fantastic poet in his own right, and he brings all his intuitive artistry to the text. The verses are disarmingly simple – almost childlike at times, helping to put you in a constant state of 'beginner's mind'. The result is that the text is a joy to read: there's no sense of being 'stuck' trying to understand the words... and the depth of the wisdom naturally blossoms, bit by bit, without any sense of effort.
This is a wonderful book and a great introduction to Taoism that's accessible to anyone of any age.
